"The most effective tool we have against animal
abuse and habitat destruction is in educating
a sympathetic and informed next generation."
OUR MISSION STATEMENT AND PHILOSOPHY
To educate about exotic birds, their natural habitat, conservation
efforts, care and training. We strive for all companion birds to
recieve the highest quality care, love and respect. Make available
the most current bird-care information to existing
and potential bird owners.
We are different from many shelters or other sanctuaries in
that are birds are selected because of their damage or the dire
circumstances of need. Our birds are often "unhandleable"
when surrendered and require consistent, determined,
forgiving and patient human attention of an experienced
and qualified handler who can establish a bonded relationship
with an otherwise often impossibly hostile bird.
Our process of educational outreach to the community
is aggressively persistent, very public and focused on
building awareness for future generations. Since breeding
and sale of exotic birds will take place regardless, we
advocate for scutiny by educated prospective human
companions and encourage children to ask questions. (List of some of 2004 presentations)
